The history of Pollensa can be traced back at least 3000 years and the town itself does feel like it still belongs to a past time with its stone houses, narrow streets and peaceful atmosphere. It’s the ideal place to escape to if you’re after a holiday in Mallorca that doesn’t feel too touristy or if you’re looking to enjoy a slower pace of life in a stunningly beautiful part of the island.
Best Time To Visit Pollensa
If you’re a fan of really hot weather then the best time to visit Pollensa is between June and September, when temperatures will be in the high twenties and chances of rainy or overcast days are very low. Even in the high season, this town remains relatively quiet, but if you’re looking for cooler temperatures and fewer crowds then March, April, May and October are the best times to come and visit.

Best Things To Do To In Pollensa
A popular activity for those in Pollensa is climbing the Puig (mountain) that overlooks the town and provides brilliant views of the nearby hills and sprawling streets. A chapel was built at the summit during an outbreak of the Plague, and now the Sancturi del Puig de Maria is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the town.
Pollensa also has a thriving culinary scene, so you’ll definitely want to check out a range of local restaurants. Its position in the hills means that it’s a great spot to base yourself if you enjoy walking, particularly if you want to explore the Serra de Tramuntana mountains.

How far is Pollensa from the beach?
The Playa de Port de Pollensa is about a 10-minute drive from the town of Pollensa, although the smaller beaches of Cala Sant Vicente are closer in distance to the Old Town.
What region is Pollensa in?
Pollensa is found in the Spanish island region of Mallorca in the northern part of the area.
Are Pollensa and Puerto Pollensa the same place?
No, Pollensa and Puerto Pollensa are not the same places. The former is an ancient, small town in the hills in the north of the island, whilst the latter is a resort town on the northern coast of the island. During the middles Ages, Pirates would raid the ports of Meditteranean islands and you will often find many ports also have a town of the same name around 5km inland where the people and possessions were thought to be safer.
