The 8 Best Places to Go in Puerto Pollensa

123 villas found.

Puerto Pollensa is a small town in northern Mallorca, around 5 miles from Pollensa. Tucked away in the far north of Mallorca, Puerto Pollensa (or Port de Pollença, as the locals call it) has a charm that’s hard to put into words — but I’ll give it a go. I first visited this laid-back coastal town on a friend’s recommendation, and I’ve been coming back ever since. With its pine-fringed promenade, golden beaches, and slow, easy rhythm, it’s the kind of place that feels like a secret — even though it's well-loved by visitors from all over Europe.

What I adore most about Puerto Pollensa is how effortlessly it blends natural beauty with a warm, authentic Mallorcan vibe. You’ve got the dramatic Tramuntana mountains rising up behind you, the sparkling Mediterranean stretching out in front, and plenty of tucked-away spots to eat, drink, and soak up the sunshine in between.

Whether you’re here for a family holiday, a romantic escape, or a peaceful solo getaway, this coastal gem offers something for everyone — from hidden coves and bustling markets to scenic walks and incredible waterfront dining. If you're wondering where to go in Puerto Pollensa to really make the most of your trip, these are my tried-and-tested favourites that I always recommend to friends visiting for the first time.

If you are planning a trip to Puerto Pollensa, you are probably wondering where to go whilst staying here. Below are the top recommendations to help get you started planning your holiday itinerary.

Puerto Pollensa Beaches

One of my absolute favourite ways to start a day in Puerto Pollensa is by heading straight to the beach — and not just any beach. Platja del Port de Pollença, the town’s main stretch of sand, is pure magic. It sweeps along the shoreline for around 2km, backed by a breezy promenade lined with cafés, little shops and relaxed beach bars. I love grabbing a sunbed near La Roca Beach Club (their weekend live music is such a vibe!) and soaking in the views of the Formentor mountains — it’s honestly like something out of a postcard.

It’s also the perfect spot if you're travelling with kids. The shallow, calm waters mean they can splash about safely while you relax on the soft sand. With lifeguards on duty, showers nearby, and plenty of places for snacks or lunch, it’s super easy to spend the whole day here without having to move too far.

The Marina at Port de Pollensa

Every time I visit Puerto Pollensa, I carve out at least one evening to wander the marina.

Tucked inside a peaceful horseshoe bay, this is where the town really shines — especially just before sunset. Luxury yachts bob gently in the water while the nearby bars and restaurants start to fill up with the warm hum of chatter and clinking glasses. It’s such a scenic place to grab dinner or sip a drink with sea views stretching out in front of you.

If you fancy mixing up beach time with a little people-watching and atmosphere, the marina is right near the town’s main beach and the smaller Albercutx cove — so you can easily bounce between both. Just a heads up: summer can be busy, so if you’re after that chilled, local feel, spring or autumn are fantastic times to visit.

The Market at Miquel Capllonch Square

There’s something about wandering a Spanish market that instantly makes you feel like you’re part of the community — and Puerto Pollensa’s Wednesday market in Plaça Miquel Capplonch is no exception. The atmosphere is buzzing as locals and tourists browse the nearly 200 stalls that fill the square. From handmade jewellery and pottery to colourful produce and artisanal cheeses, it’s a great place to pick up gifts (or treats for yourself).

I always stop by one of the nearby cafés for a cortado and people-watch before diving in — the backdrop of the Mare de Déu del Carme church gives the whole experience a timeless feel.

Pine Walk

If you’ve seen pictures of Puerto Pollensa, chances are you’ve seen the famous Pine Walk. But trust me — no photo does it justice. This peaceful, tree-lined promenade hugs the waterfront and is hands-down one of the most relaxing walks I’ve ever taken. Based on the north-eastern side of the island of Mallorca, Spain.

I love setting off from the marina in the morning, coffee in hand, and wandering slowly as the sea sparkles to one side and the scent of pine trees lingers in the air.

Along the way, you’ll pass hidden beaches, tucked-away cafés, and even a few luxurious villas. There are benches where you can sit and soak up the views or dip your toes in the water. It’s the perfect blend of coastal beauty and old-school charm, and I make a point of strolling it every time I’m in town.

Formentor

One of the best day trips I’ve ever taken from Puerto Pollensa is out to Formentor — and I’d do it again in a heartbeat. It’s just 20 minutes by TIB bus or ferry, and the journey itself is half the adventure, especially if you take the winding road by car (not for the faint-hearted but the views are worth it!).

The beach at Formentor is peaceful and unspoiled, ideal if you want to escape the buzz for a while. But the real highlight? The lighthouse. Perched on a rocky cliff edge, the panoramic views from the top are absolutely breathtaking. I’ve watched the sunset from here, and it’s one of those moments that sticks with you long after you’ve left.

Boquer Valley

If you’re up for a little nature escape without venturing too far from town, Boquer Valley is an unforgettable spot.

The hike starts just beyond the edge of Puerto Pollensa and only takes around 45 minutes — but it feels like stepping into another world. Think rugged cliffs, soaring birds overhead, and a path that gradually opens up into a wild, rocky valley that leads down to the sea.

On one trip, I spotted wild goats climbing impossibly steep ledges and paused to take in the sound of absolute stillness — a rare treat. The valley is also a dream for birdwatchers. You might spot Audouin’s gulls or even the elusive Blue Rock Thrush if you're lucky.

La Gola Park

Hidden just off the main promenade near the beach, La Gola Park is the kind of place you stumble across and instantly want to tell everyone about. It’s a small but beautiful nature reserve filled with trails, boardwalks, and little birdwatching hides. I wandered through one morning and ended up staying for hours, spotting herons and ospreys while listening to the sound of the breeze rustling through the trees.

The park has some great viewing spots and picnic areas, perfect if you’re with kids or just want a slower-paced afternoon. There’s even an old watchtower and a Roman bridge tucked inside, which give the whole place a lovely sense of history as well as nature.

Cala Barques

Cala Barques is one of those places that locals recommend, and once you get there, you’ll understand why. It’s in the nearby village of Cala San Vicente, just 10 minutes by bus or a scenic hour-long walk if you're up for it. The beach itself is relatively small, but what it lacks in size, it more than makes up for in natural beauty — think soft sand, crystal-clear water, and cliffs that wrap around the cove like a protective hug.

I brought my snorkel gear and spent ages exploring the rocky edges of the bay — the visibility is amazing. It’s also a great spot for families, as the water stays calm and shallow. Plus, there are a few cafés nearby if you need a drink or snack after all that swimming.
