When I first started planning a trip to Alcúdia, I found myself wondering: When is the best time to go? I wanted sunshine, fewer crowds, and enough local charm to really soak up the soul of Mallorca. After visiting at different times of the year, I can confidently say that Alcúdia is a destination that offers something magical in every season — whether you're after beach days, cultural festivals, or peaceful countryside escapes.
From the golden sands of Platja d’Alcúdia to the cobbled streets of the Old Town, the town changes its pace with the seasons. Spring brings vibrant markets and blooming nature trails. Summer offers sunny beach days and buzzing nightlife. Autumn feels like a sweet secret — warm but less crowded. And winter, though quieter, reveals a more authentic, local side of this beautiful town.
In this guide, I’ll walk you through what it’s really like to visit Alcúdia month by month, so you can choose the time that suits your style of holiday best. Whether you're here for the sun, the festivals, or a bit of both, there’s a perfect moment for everyone in Alcúdia.
Visiting Alcúdia in January feels like discovering a secret side of Mallorca. It’s the coldest month of the year here, but with daytime highs hovering around 14°C, it never feels harsh. Yes, there are some rainy days — but they're usually light showers that pass quickly. And with so few tourists around, you often feel like you have the charming old streets and sweeping coastal views all to yourself.
January is perfect if you're looking for a quiet, cultural escape. Accommodation and flight prices are incredibly budget-friendly, and the cooler weather makes sightseeing relaxed and comfortable.
Toward the end of the month, you might also start spotting the first almond blossoms — delicate pink and white flowers that signal the start of something special across Mallorca’s countryside.
February is still technically winter, but it doesn’t feel gloomy. Average highs stay around 14°C, and there’s a real sense of things starting to stir again — longer days, milder afternoons, and the stunning arrival of almond blossom season.
This is a wonderful time to explore the countryside around Alcúdia on foot. The hiking routes near Pollensa and the Tramuntana foothills are peaceful and full of colour, with hardly another tourist in sight.
Insider tip:
This is the month for nature lovers. The almond trees are in full bloom, and with over 7 million across Mallorca, it feels like the whole island is wrapped in petals and perfume. It’s also one of the most photogenic times to visit.
March is the month I recommend most for active holidays. It’s not too hot, not too cold — just right for long walks, cycling routes, and slow, scenic explorations of Alcúdia and beyond. Expect highs of around 17°C and an average of 7 hours of sunshine per day.
The tourist crowds still haven’t arrived, so it’s a great time to explore Alcúdia’s Old Town or take a peaceful stroll along Platja d’Alcúdia without feeling rushed. Nature is beginning to bloom, and every day feels more like spring.
My tip:
Pack layers — you’ll be peeling them off by midday but glad you brought them along in the early mornings and evenings!
April is when the island starts to wake up — and you can feel it in Alcúdia. The weather warms up nicely, with highs of around 19°C and about 9 hours of sunshine each day. Spring is in full swing, and the first proper wave of tourists begins to trickle in — especially around Easter.
If you’re visiting during Semana Santa (Holy Week), you’ll notice processions, church services, and a wonderfully festive energy across the island. Alcúdia stays calmer than Palma, but you’ll still get to enjoy the spiritual and cultural buzz.
Also in April:
May is when summer really starts to show itself. The sea begins to sparkle, the skies stay clear, and daytime highs can hit 23°C. You still won’t find peak-season crowds yet, which makes May a fantastic time to explore Alcúdia at its best — warm, sunny, and wonderfully relaxed.
The beaches start to get busier, but there’s still room to stretch out your towel and enjoy the sand without too much company. It’s also perfect hiking weather before the intense heat of summer kicks in.
Why I love May:
It strikes the perfect balance between sunshine and serenity. You get summer vibes without summer stress — and the local markets are bursting with fresh produce and handmade goods.
By June, Alcúdia is buzzing with life and a great time to visit Mallorca. The sea is warm enough to swim in, the beaches are full of families and sunseekers, and long, sunny days are the norm. With highs around 27°C and barely a drop of rain, it’s the start of the island’s peak season — but it still feels calm compared to July and August.
Alcúdia makes a great base if you’re also hoping to explore northern Mallorca, including Pollensa and Puerto Pollensa, without being right in the middle of the busier tourist towns.
24th June: San Joan (Festival of Saint John)
One of Mallorca’s most exciting nights! On the evening of the 23rd, the island lights up with beach bonfires, fireworks, and midnight swims to celebrate the summer solstice. Even if you don’t fancy a full dip, just getting your feet wet is said to bring good luck for the year ahead.
The Christian figure of Saint John the Baptist is honoured each year across Spain and Mallorca with celebrations on the eve of his holy day, the 24th of June. On the evening of the 23rd, there are traditionally beach parties across the island that involve bonfires and barbecues, with people dressed up as correfocs (fire runs) to commemorate the occasion. There is a tradition of swimming in the sea once it gets to midnight, but as long as you at least get your feet wet, you’ll have partaken in the event.
Sant Pere, or Saint Peter, is the patron saint of fishermen whose special day is celebrated on the 29th of June. in Port d'Alcúdia, a week-long festival takes place in honour of the occasion and the coastal town’s connection with the fishing industry.
The celebrations begin on the evening of the 29th with a parade on land and then out into the sea, culminating in a fireworks display. There is a range of other local events throughout the following week, including more parades, live music and dance performances, and food markets.
July marks the start of the peak summer season in Alcúdia, and everything kicks into high gear. With sunny days reaching highs of 29°C, barely any rainfall, and plenty of festivities, it’s an exciting time to experience the town’s lively atmosphere.
Yes, it’s busy — school holidays bring a wave of visitors — but the buzz adds to the fun. Beaches are full, shops stay open late, and the whole town feels alive.
August is the hottest month in Alcúdia, with temperatures often reaching 30°C during the day and warm evenings that rarely dip below 19°C. It’s another busy month, but with perfect beach weather and long, sun-soaked days, it’s easy to see why.
The town hosts some of its most enchanting festivals in August, making it a great month for families and culture lovers alike.
If you want to enjoy summer sunshine without the midsummer crowds, September is a great time to visit Alcúdia. Daytime highs of around 26°C keep things warm, and with fewer tourists around, the beaches and town feel more peaceful.
This is the perfect month for relaxed holidays — you can still swim in the sea, enjoy alfresco dinners, and take day trips into the countryside or nearby towns like Pollensa or Formentor.
Why go in September:
It’s still summer, just a little quieter. Prices begin to dip, and the pace of life becomes more laid-back — ideal for those who prefer their holidays a little more chilled.
October signals the end of Mallorca’s main tourist season, but Alcúdia remains a great spot for visitors who love culture, nature, and fewer crowds. Highs of 23°C are still common, though there’s a higher chance of rain, especially toward the end of the month.
Shops and restaurants may begin reducing hours, but this is a prime time for hikers and cyclists, with cooler temperatures and golden landscapes.
Fira d’Alcúdia (Alcúdia Autumn Fair)Taking place over the first weekend of the month, this fair celebrates local arts, crafts, agriculture, and Mallorcan traditions. Expect artisan stalls, delicious local food, and one of my personal favourites — the S’Estol del Rei en Jaumeparade, featuring oversized ‘giant head’ characters in a joyful, family-friendly procession.
November is about as peaceful as Alcúdia gets. With cooler temperatures and a noticeable drop in visitors, this is the time to come if you want a retreat-like holiday. Expect some rain and average highs around 17°C, but if you're happy to swap beach days for countryside walks and quiet Old Town strolls, it’s a wonderfully restful time to be here.
Insider tip:
While many tourist services wind down, you’ll have the town’s historic charm and nature trails practically to yourself.
Alcúdia gently stirs to life again in December as a few more visitors arrive for a peaceful Christmas break. The town doesn’t go big on holiday decorations or crowds, but that’s exactly why it’s such a lovely place to spend the festive season. It’s cosy, calm, and far from the usual bustle.
Temperatures hover around 15°C, and while it’s not beach weather, it’s perfect for wrapping up, wandering the Old Town, and enjoying warm local dishes in quiet cafes.
Good to know:
Most of the big Christmas celebrations in Spain happen on Epiphany (6th January), so if you prefer a laid-back Christmas and New Year, Alcúdia in December is ideal.
Alcúdia isn’t as busy as some of Mallorca’s other popular towns in terms of annual events, but it’s still a great place to visit with lots of history and cultural activities. Whether you’re enjoying the varied landscapes around the town, relaxing on the nearby beach or doing some serious historic sightseeing, you can enjoy a classic Mediterranean climate from early spring to the end of autumn and make the most of being an easy drive from some of the island’s other famous resort towns.
