Whenever I find myself in Calvià, I’m always reminded just how much variety this little corner of Mallorca packs in.
From peaceful countryside villages to glamorous coastal hotspots, Calvià has this brilliant balance of laid-back charm and vibrant energy — and honestly, it’s one of those places where you can design your holiday exactly how you like it. Over the years, I’ve explored everything from hidden beaches to lively marinas and quiet hilltop towns, and each spot has its own personality and appeal.
Whether you’re after a slow, scenic escape or an action-packed adventure, these are my absolute favourite places to visit in Calvià — tried, tested, and genuinely loved.
Unlike some of the busier corners of Mallorca, Calvià feels like one of those rare places where time slows down in the best way possible.
Every time I visit, I find myself enchanted by the little details — the golden ochre houses perched on rolling hills, the small family-run cafés shaded by ancient olive trees, and those quiet streets that make you feel like you’ve stumbled upon a secret side of the island. Calvià offers that perfect slice of traditional Mallorca, where you can genuinely unwind and soak up the local charm.
The beauty is, you’re also just a short drive from some of the island’s livelier resorts and coastal gems, so you really can have the best of both worlds. If you’re after some inspiration on where to head first, these are my absolute favourite places to visit in and around Calvià — each one offering its own unique flavour of Mallorcan magic.
If you’re like me and love a touch of glamour with your coastal views, Puerto Portals is an absolute must. Just a short 13-minute drive from Calvià village, this marina town always makes me feel like I’ve stepped into a postcard.
It’s got that irresistible mix of luxury and laid-back charm — the kind of place where you can spot the occasional celebrity while sipping your coffee, but also just enjoy watching the world go by. I like to start my day here with a wander through the designer shops, maybe grab a little something special, then head over to Cala Portals Nous for a relaxing swim. It’s tucked away and more peaceful than the bigger beaches, making it perfect for a slow, sun-soaked afternoon.
And when hunger kicks in, there’s no shortage of stylish spots by the waterfront to grab a meal and watch the sunset.
Andratx always feels like stepping back in time in the loveliest way. Just a quick 20-minute drive from Calvià village, it’s all rustic stone streets, terracotta rooftops, and the smell of orange blossoms in the air.
I always recommend a wander through the narrow lanes — you’ll find charming little art galleries, local markets, and friendly cafés tucked into the corners. Even on a busier summer day, there’s something calming about the pace here. It’s a wonderful contrast to the coast and a perfect way to experience a more traditional side of Mallorca.
Now if you fancy turning up the glamour a notch, just head 5 minutes down from Andratx town to Port d’Andratx.
I absolutely love coming here for a lazy afternoon by the sea. Picture a working fishing port blended with swanky yachts and a buzzing marina promenade — it’s such a fun mix. I usually settle in at one of the waterfront cafés, enjoy a drink, and just watch the boats glide in and out.
There’s something about the vibe here that’s both vibrant and chilled — it’s impossible not to feel like you’re on a proper Mediterranean escape.
Whenever I need a little creative boost, I always carve out time for CCA Andratx.
It’s just a quick 4-minute drive from the town centre, and it’s genuinely one of the best places on the island for contemporary art. I love how the gallery combines edgy modern pieces with the rustic Mallorcan countryside setting — it’s a combination that just works.
Plus, it’s a nice way to switch up the pace of a day trip, especially if you’re looking for something cultural and a little bit off the beaten path.
If you’re after classic holiday vibes — think golden beaches and lively seaside promenades — Paguera is my go-to.
Just 15 minutes from Calvià village, it offers exactly what you’d want from a sun-and-sea escape. There are three beaches to pick from, and I like to start early at Palmira, rent a lounger, and simply relax. When lunchtime rolls around, you’ll find loads of friendly places along the beachfront for a quick bite.
And I always end my visits with a stroll along Avenida Paguera — perfect for a little retail therapy or finding that quirky souvenir.
Santa Ponsa always feels like a crowd-pleaser — it’s got that great family-friendly resort feel, but also plenty of natural beauty with the Tramuntana mountains in the distance.
I pop over here whenever I want an easy, fuss-free day by the sea. It’s just 15 minutes from Calvià and has everything: beaches, shops, activities, and great food spots. Plus, it’s easy to dip in and out of the action as much as you like.
Santa Ponça’s main beach is one of my favourites for when I want the whole ‘classic holiday beach day’ experience.
It’s a huge stretch of soft white sand, super easy to access, and ideal for everything from lazy sunbathing to trying out water sports. I’ve spent many happy afternoons here, book in hand, watching the waves and the bustling beach life unfold around me.
For those days when I’m craving a bit more activity, I love heading to Puig de sa Morisca.
It’s a stunning park packed with archaeological treasures and hiking trails, just up in the hills behind Santa Ponsa. There’s a brilliant circular trail that’s around an hour and a bit — enough to feel accomplished but not so much that you’re wiped out. And the views? Absolutely breathtaking. You can see for miles across the sea and countryside, making it well worth the gentle climb.
Whenever I really want to escape the busier tourist trail, Galilea is my secret spot.
Tucked up in the Tramuntana mountains, this peaceful little village is less than 20 minutes from Calvià but feels like another world. It’s all sleepy streets, pretty churches, and jaw-dropping views out over the island. I love just wandering here, grabbing a drink at a tiny café, and soaking in the calm, old-world charm.
If you’re up for a mini adventure with rewarding views, Galilea is absolutely worth the detour.
Calvià’s central location makes it the ideal destination to discover some of the better-known destinations, but also hidden gems, in this part of Mallorca during a stay. If you’re wanting a varied and diverse holiday experience, being based in Calvià and venturing out for day trips will mean you get to explore and discover the different aspects that Majorca has to offer.
Whether it be beachfront resorts, mountain-top villages, or bustling port towns, you’ll never be bored when it comes to places to go in Calvià.
