Santa Ponsa is situated on the southwestern coast of Mallorca, just 13 miles from Palma and 3 miles from other popular towns such as Magaluf and Palma Nova. Therefore, staying in Santa Ponsa puts you in a great position to easily explore the island. Every time I return to Santa Ponsa, I feel like I’m stepping back into one of my happiest places on the island. I’ve explored just about every corner of this laid-back coastal town — from its golden beaches and vibrant marina to the peaceful hillside trails and hidden coves — and honestly, it’s hard to pick just one favourite activity. But if I had to choose the one thing that keeps drawing me back, the experience I recommend to every friend planning a visit, it would be this.
It’s something that captures everything I love about Santa Ponsa: the natural beauty, the chilled-out atmosphere, and the kind of local charm that makes you want to stay just a little longer. Whether you're visiting for the first time or coming back like I do each year, this experience is the heart of what makes Santa Ponsa so special — and I can’t wait to share it with you.
Being quiet during the day and becoming lively in the evenings means that Santa Ponsa offers the perfect mixture of tranquillity and fun. Although the town comes to life at night, it is still relatively calm compared to its neighbouring locations, Palma and Magaluf.
If you are planning a trip to Santa Ponsa and would like more information on the best things to do whilst you are there, this post shares our top recommendations.
Jungle Parc is a 9-hectare forest located in Calvia, Santa Ponsa. If you’re craving a bit of adventure in Santa Ponsa, let me tell you — Jungle Parc is where I had one of my most exciting afternoons on the island.
Tucked into a 9-hectare pine forest just 500 metres from the beach, it’s the biggest tree-top adventure park in the Balearics, and it absolutely delivers on fun. I swung through the trees, crossed wobbly bridges, and even braved a few zip lines that had me soaring over the canopy — it’s the perfect mix of adrenaline and nature. There are adult circuits and a kids' pirate course too, so it's a brilliant day out for families. I always recommend giving this a try, especially if you're the kind of person who likes mixing beach days with a bit of high-energy action.
Even if you’re not a hardcore golfer, the courses around Santa Ponsa are worth exploring.
I played a round at Golf Santa Ponsa, just 15 minutes outside of town, and it was as scenic as it was challenging. This place is legendary — it's hosted several international tournaments and is beautifully laid out with wide fairways, tricky hazards, and a super relaxed vibe.
Only one of the three courses is open to the public, but it’s more than enough for a fantastic day on the greens. Plus, the facilities are spot on — pro shop, buggy rental, lessons, a pool, and even a lovely clubhouse to chill in afterwards. If you’re a golf fan, it’s a no-brainer. If not, it’s still worth it for the views alone.
One of my favourite ways to explore Mallorca is on two wheels, and Santa Ponsa is the perfect starting point for some unforgettable cycling routes.
I’ve done everything from gentle seaside rides to full-day adventures up into the hills. The route to Andratx is a great beginner-friendly one — around 15km with a smooth path and some gentle climbs.
For something more challenging, the 40km ride to Coll de Palmanova winds through charming towns like Calvia and Portals Vells. But if you're up for a serious challenge, try the 118km loop to Lluc via Castellitx de la Pau — tough but absolutely stunning. Whether you’re cruising or pushing your limits, cycling in this part of Mallorca is a total joy.
If you’re lucky enough to be in Santa Ponsa during festival season, don’t miss out.
I stumbled into the Festes del Rei en Jaume one September and it was hands down one of the most memorable cultural experiences I’ve had here. There was a full-blown reenactment of the Moors vs. Christians battle right on the beach — complete with costumes, fireworks, and music. Throughout the year, you’ll find everything from traditional fiestas to modern food and water sports events, especially around Port Adriano.
And if you're into local finds, hit the Saturday morning market on Avinguda Riu Sill for handmade goods, local treats, and colourful island vibes. The community here really knows how to celebrate!
The best places to indulge in dinner with a view are at Port Adriano, located 1.5 miles from Santa Ponsa’s town centre.
If you’re anything like me and love a sunset dinner with a sea view, Port Adriano is your dream come true. Just a short hop from Santa Ponsa, it’s this sleek, stylish marina filled with superyachts, rooftop bars and a fantastic selection of restaurants.
My top picks? Ariana Restaurant is perfect for date nights — gourmet food and those magical Mediterranean views. If you want something with a more traditional flair, Harbour Grill serves amazing local seafood. And for a treat, Sansibar Wine Restaurant has an incredible wine list and prime people-watching as the sun sets over the water. It’s a slice of luxury that feels totally accessible — and absolutely worth a visit.
I always set aside time to wander through Santa Ponsa’s shops before I leave — there’s something about bringing home a little piece of Mallorca that makes the trip last longer. The promenade is dotted with gift shops and boutique stalls selling everything from beachwear and jewellery to handmade crafts.
If you want something extra special, check out the Saturday morning market along Avinguda de Horts. I’ve picked up delicious pastries, fresh fruit, and even some gorgeous handwoven goods from local makers. Whether you're buying for loved ones or just treating yourself, shopping here feels relaxed and authentically Mallorcan.
When the sun goes down, Santa Ponsa really comes to life.
The nightlife here has this perfect mix — lively enough to be fun, but way more chilled than Magaluf just down the road. I’ve spent plenty of evenings hopping between bars along the Roman de Montcada strip, where everything’s within easy walking distance.
There are three main clubs — Disco Inferno, Kitty O’Sheas, and Fama — if you’re up for dancing late into the night. But honestly, some of my favourite nights have been just sipping cocktails at a beach bar or listening to live music in Los Jardines, where local performers and tribute acts often take the stage. Whether you're after full-on party vibes or just a relaxed drink under the stars, Santa Ponsa’s nightlife hits the sweet spot.
We’ve only really given a taster of what there is to do in Santa Ponsa on this list. Not only is there more to discover in the town, but its location means that trips to places like Palma, Magaluf and Palma Nova are also super easy to plan, which allows you to see more of Mallorca and its other lovely cities and towns.
